I just set up a profile for my work on Facebook - look under Jesse Miller. I plan on posting new paintings when they happen and give out more information on my work process, where I will be showing, and other cool stuff. Click on it, and we can be friends.
“Bigrock”
Watercolor - 12 x 17”
With a dropping tide, late in the afternoon, and the winter’s sun glaring on the water, a wave goes by unridden at Bigrock. Even though it is a little funky, this is still a really good wave.
“Checking Blacks”
Watercolor - 15 x 22”
Another late afternoon, and guys deciding if it is worth the walk down. On this day, it was totally worth the walk
“Horseshoe”
12 x 17” - watercolor
Another late afternoon shot. This wave looks deceptively good. The face is about 15 feet high, and was surprisingly unmakable this day. It still make a great painting, I think anyways
“Blacks Bubbles”
12 x 17” - Watercolor
This wave was very makable. And if you are wondering where all the guys were in this shot, I left them out. There were like 25 people cluttering up this wave. But I like the idea of what it would have looked like about 100 years ago. Same place, same wave, same swells, just no surfers.
Why do I keep painting Blacks? An excellent wave with clear water, surrounded by beautiful cliffs. And all the paintings remind me of great days of fun surf. Why wouldn’t I keep painting the place?
The top painting (“More Bubbles” Watercolor - 10 x 16”) is of the same day as the previous painting, just with all the guys included in the shot.
The one below (“Goat trail 2” Watercolor - 12 x 16”) is another shot of walking down the goat trail.
Both these paintings were documented with video, and can be seen on the painting demonstrations page, and on youtube. Check them out.
“Windan’s Shoreline”
Oil - 16 x 20”
I like this painting. I love the glowing yellow sky, and the water lapping up on the shore. The outside wave is really good as well. I’m enjoying oils.
“North Side View”
Oil - 11 x 14”
More late afternoon shots. I’ve got a theme with these new paintings, don’t I? Maybe it is getting time for me to take a life guarding schedule out of La Jolla. All my paintings are from the City of San Diego’s Northern District. I work where I love.
